Our Story

Preserving ancestral Chin handweaving traditions for contemporary living.

The Heritage

Our Purpose & Mission

In the mountains of Chin State, textiles have never been mere adornment. Every horizontal stripe, every stepped diamond, and every natural dye mordant carries communal lineage, family dignity, and spiritual harmony.

Our Mission

To preserve the rich heritage of the Chin people, support local communities through traditional craftsmanship, and share Chin culture with the world for generations to come.

Sein Shwe Yamin is dedicated to preserving Chin cultural identity through authentic handwoven textiles. We work directly with master artisans in Falam and Kanpetlet, Chin State to create garments that carry memory, dignity, and generational pride.

Our clothing is not a museum artifact or a festival costume. It is living cloth—made to be worn for weddings, church mornings, family reunions, and dignified daily wear across Yangon, Chin State, and the global Chin community.

Our Principles

Four unyielding commitments.

01

Handmade First

Every warp is strung by hand, every shuttle is guided manually, and every selvedge is finished with needle and thread.

02

Artisan Fair Pay

Our weavers earn 65% above regional market rates, with guaranteed healthcare support and loom maintenance grants.

03

Pure Natural Fibers

We use raw unmercerized cotton, highland wool, and wild forest dye vats derived from bark, roots, and indigo.

04

Architectural Restraint

We reject fleeting trend cycles in favor of timeless garment silhouettes crafted to last for generations.
